REALTORS® Provide $25,000 in Wildfire Relief


file9781308552219A wildfire disaster relief fund of just over $25,000 is now available from the REALTOR® community, through a partnership between Idaho REALTORS®, the National Association of REALTORS®, and Boise Regional REALTORS®. Its purpose is to assist individuals and families in Idaho whose homes were damaged or destroyed by a wildfire in 2015, pay for temporary housing or offset mortgage or rent payments while living elsewhere.

Who is eligible for a grant? Grants are available for qualified applicants, whose primary residence (located in the state of Idaho) was damaged or destroyed by a wildfire in 2015, to offset their monthly mortgage expense or the cost of temporary shelter due to displacement from said residence. Grants will be limited to one month of assistance, up to $1,000 per applicant, and one grant per residence. Applications will be accepted through December 31, 2015 March 30, 2016 (date extended!) or until all funds have been distributed. This assistance is for housing relief only; other expenses such as a vehicle purchase, rental, repair and/or mileage are ineligible for reimbursement under this program. Who is making these grants available? The majority of the funds were donated by the REALTORS® Relief Foundation (RRF), the charitable arm of the National Association of REALTORS®. The RRF was launched in 2001, within hours of the devastating September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks—raising more than $8.4 million to provide assistance so that surviving family members could stay in their homes. Since then, more than $25 million has been raised for victims of disasters, including wildfires, tornadoes, floods, and hurricanes. Today, RRF exists as a 501(c)(3) organization established to provide housing-related assistance to victims of disasters. Learn more at

Approved grants will be distributed through the REALTORS® Community Foundation, a subsidiary of Boise Regional REALTORS® (BRR).
